Native Authors Book Fair on August 12 at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley. The afternoon will include two panel discussions with our guest authors, an opportunity to meet the authors, and time to peruse and purchase books.

Native Harvest
Kim Sigafus will be presenting a program on Native Harvest. Her talk will include planting Native foods like The Three Sisters, wild ricing, maple syrup tapping, and how natives stored food.
She will also be discussing how the native people lived in the early 1800’s, from gardening, harvest, and fall into winter time activities.

MMIW - Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two Spirit Honoring Event
MMIW - Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two Spirit Honoring Event
At 1 p.m the gathering will begin to honor those missing and murdered. The ceremony will include a blessing, a pipe ceremony, drumming and singing, a healing jingle dress dance, and the Red Dress ceremony.
The event is open to the public. Come dressed in red or wear your MMIW t-shirt to support the indigenous people. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Dressed in her Native regalia, Kim Sigafus will be talking about The Three Sisters Planting and companion planting. She will discuss other ways of planting, what the native people planted, and all participants will receive seeds to start in their own garden. A Q and A will follow.
