AUTHOR
Bradley Wagnon is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He taught Cherokee history, culture, and language at Tahlequah High School for ten years and has worked for Cherokee Nation Community and Cultural Outreach (CCO) as a technical assistance specialist since 2015. He is also the author of three children’s picture books based on traditional Cherokee stories.
ILLUSTRATOR
Beth Anderson, of Water Bird Arts, is a Cherokee Nation citizen and a contemporary visual artist. She holds a degree in Sculpture, is TERO certified with Cherokee Nation, registered with the US Department of Interior’s Indian Arts and Crafts Board, and is a Southeastern Indian Artists Association board member and social media chair.

The concept for the illustrations was influenced by medieval illuminated manuscripts that will enchant readers. The intent is to allow people of all ages to appreciate and celebrate the historic Cherokee language that was first introduced in written form by Sequoyah in 1891.
