Excerpt: Easy Ways to Use Essential Oils
One of the simplest and most effective ways to receive the benefit of essential oils is to smell them. Open the cap and take a sniff. Or put a few drops on a handkerchief that you can carry with you. You can use essential oils this way anytime, anywhere. Here are two other easy applications that will allow you to enjoy essential oils with almost no effort:
- Make a natural air freshener spray to use at home, at work, or in the car. Put 2 ounces of pure water in a mist spray bottle and add 50 to 75 drops of an essential oil. Shake well before spraying into the air. I use this application in the car and in the living room, places that tend to get a little stinky thanks to my two sons.
- Add 25 drops of one or more essential oils to a bowl of potpourri that has lost its scent. Or create your own potpourri by adding drops of an essential oil to dried leaves, flowers, and so on. Mix together in a container, cover tightly, and store for several days to allow the potpourri to absorb the essential oil.
